Is gluten a concern for skin?

For certain people, gluten can cause skin and other problems. Gluten is not a known allergen but for those sensitive to it, when ingested, gluten is linked to some nutritional problems which could impact the skin.

More directly skin related, gluten causes dermatitis herpetiformis, a chronic blistering skin condition not related to herpes.

If you are allergic to gluten, avoid it in foods as well as in skin and personal care products (VMV HYPOALLERGENICS© products are gluten-free).

Gluten sensitivity can be confirmed by your allergist and dermatologist.
