Stubborn Acne?

We’ve put together some of the most reliable “musts” for successful clarity.

FOLLICLE CHRONICLES

Shampoos, conditioners and hair styling products with comedogens or allergens can trickle down onto skin, particularly with sweat, and cause acne on the forehead, neck and other areas near where hair touches skin. If these are your problem areas, try Essence Skin-Saving Hair + Body Care.

WATCH YOUR BACK!

Bumps on the back, arms and posterior are bothersome enough; in skin-baring summer, they’re also harder to hide.

Enter Id Clarifying System for face + body acne. Make sure to use Id Monolaurin Gel for sweat acne (groups of tiny pimples that almost look like a rash) — actually a fungal condition that doesn’t respond to traditional acne antibacterials.

Combine your Id Regimen with the Vx Blemish Buster Facial for clear pores that defy sweaty, sebum- rich summer. Add our Vx Answer Back! Service and you’ll be loving your rear-view clearer!

To book a Vx Facial or Service, call 212 227 7309 or visit vmvhypoallergenics.com/store-locations.

DEEP-CLEANING Vx FACIALS

Regular deep cleaning sessions significantly improve the skin’s clarity.

THINK FRESH, RAW, LESS PROCESSED

Processed foods are inflammatory and inflammation is linked to acne. Avoid chips, fast food (some fries don’t even contain real potatoes!), most things that come in pre-packaged bags and bottles including juices or “health” drinks, plus white bread, rice and sugar. Drink water or squeeze your own juice. Substitute “whites” with their wild, brown, or whole wheat versions. Snack on granola, nuts and fruit.

SLEEP THE ACNE OFF!

The acne may not be gone overnight, but 7-8 hours a night of sleep helps your body control stress and work against inflammation.

“PORE-VENT” RECURRENCE

It doesn’t matter how good you’re being with everything else if you continue to use products with pore-clogging ingredients or allergens (while allergens don’t clog pores the way comedogens do, they can irritate pores, leading to infection and acne). And don’t think prevention is limited to facial products—even shampoos, conditioners, styling products and toothpaste can cause acne.
